The Coral Viewing and Snorkelling Tour is the ultimate way to experience the lagoons premier reef and coral holes. This two hour tour focuses on exploring the profuse coral seascape and introduces visitors to some of the more unusual lagoon inhabitants such as the endemic double-header wrasse, stingrays and turtles.
One of the highlights of this tour includes a visit to the Island’s most famous and incredibly beautiful coral hole known as “Erscott’s Hole”. This location has been an integral part of the glass bottom boat experience on Lord Howe Island for over 35 years.
During your visit to this iconic location you can choose to snorkel this sheltered site or simply relax on the boat and view a unique fish feeding event. One of the more unusual species of reef fish to be seen at this site is the Double Header Wrasse Coris bulbifrons. As its name suggests, the Double Header boasts a most unusual facial profile with a large humped forehead. The double header is the main attraction during the licensed fish feeding event where patrons on the glass bottom boat can view “Fred” the large male Double Header feeding directly below the viewing area.
